Feeling Hopeless and Lost

When we are feeling hopeless and lost we turn to whatever will ease those feelings. We seek out temporary solutions to heal. But what if we didn’t go searching for something to fill that void? What if we opened our bible and asked God to encourage us and inspire us? Sometimes where we feel burdened or barren simply means that we are craving hope to be born again inside us. 

Romans 15:4 "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

If we’re honest with ourselves we don’t always want to go to the Father, we feel forgotten, angry, or just hopeless. When we feel these things we have no desire to seek the word of God. Our hearts aren’t ready to receive anything in that condition, we are weak. This is why fellowship is so important. Our brothers and sisters in Christ can pull us back from the edge of the cliff. They can pray for us, they can encourage us to hang in there. Some of them are so relentless they won’t stop calling or texting just to make sure we are ok. As frustrating as it may be when this happens, we need them! When we isolate ourselves and want space in our hopelessness, we really need nourishment for our depressed souls. 

Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."

God knew it would get hard, he knew we would fall weak. He prepared us for those days. If you’re feeling uninspired or hopeless, allow the Father in. He’s knocking at your door hoping you answer. Let the word of God nourish you back to spiritual health my love. Once you’re stronger, go be strength for someone else. 

Prayer Heavenly Father I am not feeling like myself at all. I have found myself feeling a lack of fulfillment, joy, or inspiration to do much of anything. The excitement I once felt has faded and certain things trigger me. My heart feels weighted with despair. Father help me to overcome these feelings with your word and may the Holy Spirit protect me from those triggers. I pray Lord that your promises will take up residence in my mind and that I will begin to feel restored. ~ Amen
