It’s Not Time to Tell The Story: The Author Only Disclosed Those Things to You

The Lord will crown you with an assignment. Don’t get distracted running to tell everybody.

Have you ever experienced God revealing things to you and out of excitement you wanted to share those things? I mean the kind of confirmation that occurs over and over again. Maybe it’s related to your purpose and you have this dream or vision to do something but you’re fearful so you turn away. Later you encounter signs be it opportunities or people leading you back to that same vision. Maybe its related to a decision you avoid making but there is reassurance over and over it’s time to do this thing. Whatever the case may be you know you’re being shown the path to take and you want to tell the story.

Scripture Reflections

Joseph had a dream and a story he was eager to tell and his eagerness perhaps cost him a challenging road to his path (Genesis 37:5). I previously wrote about that one. What about Moses, the angel of God appeared to him in the burning bush to instruct him about a path he would soon take (Exodus 3:2) although he feared that path. He didn’t see himself as worthy. God calls you and then he qualifies you.

Like them, God has a way of revealing your purpose to you repeatedly until you grasp onto what he desires for you to produce. How the Lord reveals that to you is between you and him. But what you do next is what matters. What God reveals to you is for you. It’s not anyone else’s assignment or else he would have invited them to the meeting. When your excitement about what God is doing in you and through you becomes your glory, you invite some unwelcome guests to the party. You invite:

1. Envy

2. Resentment

3. Quarreling

4. Naysayers

5. Hatefulness

6. Distractions

7. Thieves or Plagiarizers

8. Obstacles Set by Others

9. Con-artist

10. Arrogance

The list goes on but you get the idea. You will invite these things in your life when you share the story that God gave you. It’s not meant for others to understand the entire process of the call the Lord gave you. He decides when it is time for the wisdom of God to be revealed. So my sister, although you feel it in your bones what God has crowned you with in this season, take a moment and ask yourself who the Author delivered the message to and why did he do it in that manner? Your humility and obedience unlock the doors he’s placed before you.
