When Somebody Takes My Place

Have you ever thought "it should have been me"?

Oftentimes we experience things that we can not explain. We see in the moment that we were kept safe from harms way. We see that the story could have had a different ending for us. Depending on the situation we may even know people in our lives who had a similar situation and they did not receive the same outcome that we did. Have you ever felt guilty for surviving when others did not? Well sister it was not by mistake or chance. It was not by luck or at random.

Christ Jesus died for our sins, he predestined us to glory with him. This means that he chose us though we did not choose him. He wants us to receive the gift of eternal peace with him. To do so, he called us to be obedient and faithful to his word until our time comes to go home with him. He not only saved us from eternal damnation but he gave us a purpose in this life to bear fruit, to spread the word of Jesus Christ to help bring other souls into the rest and peace that he offers.

If you have survived a situation that you did not understand if you are going through one right now, first know that the Father has given you access to peace already. Allow your mind to rest by petitioning him in prayer. Next, know that sometimes we must endure difficult times and even tragedy to build up our faith and intimacy with the Father. Finally, remember that you survived not by your own doing, not by the doing of others, not because of luck or good fortune. You survived because he already paid the price and chose you, he covered you and protected you. He has purpose for you and wants you to fulfill that purpose.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit--fruit that will last--and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. John 15:16

So my sister, if you are grieving or mentally at war with yourself right now remember you have a purpose. You are surviving by his grace and mercy. He gave you the gift of life. You do not have to feel guilt for him taking your place on the cross. You may rejoice in good times and in tough times because you are a survivor! May his will in your life be done.

Prayer Heavenly Father, thank you for your sacrifice and taking my place. You saved me though not worthy. At times I am not sure how I survived or how I will survive but in this moment I know you are with me and you will cover and protect me. I know that you have purpose for me and you love me. Father I ask to receive your peace that surpasses all understanding. Heavenly Father bring me into a space of intimacy with you that I may know the unique calling on my life to live out my purpose. ~ Amen
